Mit gestohlenen Identitäten suchen Kriminelle über das Businessnetzwerk XING offenbar neue Opfer. Neu ist nur die Art der Kontaktaufnahme und die kriminelle Energie. Die Masche ist dagegen uralt und wird über das Medium E-Mail seit Jahren praktiziert. Wir erklären, wie die Kontaktaufnahme abläuft und welche Geschichte Sie erwarten könnte.
Die Betrüger geben sich immer mehr Mühe und versuchen neue Kanäle für die Kontaktaufnahme zu erschließen. Konkret geht es häufig um eine Art Vorschussbetrug. Ihnen wird offeriert, dass Sie einen hohen Geldbetrag erben können, weil im Ausland eine vermögende Person mit Ihrem Familiennamen gestorben ist. In der Geschichte der Betrüger hat diese Person oft mehrere Millionen auf der Kante und keine Nachkommen. Erst unlängst haben wir berichtet, wie ein angeblicher Rechtsanwalt sich der Erbsache annimmt und dem vermeintlichen Opfer die Millionen zukommen lassen möchte. Seit Jahren werden von Kriminellen bereits Erben per E-Mail, SMS oder Telefax gesucht.
Jetzt übertragen die Ganoven die Betrugsmasche offenbar auch auf das soziale Netzwerk XING. Dort nehmen sie die Identität eines hochrangigen Bank-Managers im Ausland an, den es teils tatsächlich gibt. Gefälscht werden neben dem Namen auch das Profilfoto und bei Bedarf der Lebenslauf, damit alles echt aussieht. In einem uns bekannten Fall wurde die Identität von Alain Renaud, einem General Manager der Bank of Dubai, missbraucht. Zum Zeitpunkt der Veröffentlichung finden wir zu dieser Person allein auf XING vier Profile. Denkbar ist auch, dass auf diese Weise die Identität von existierenden Rechtsanwälten oder Notaren angenommen wird.
Wie läuft die Kontaktaufnahme ab?
Zuerst fügen die Betrüger ihre potenziellen Opfer zu ihren Kontakten hinzu und hoffen, dass diese die Kontaktanfrage bestätigen. Im Anschluss bekommt das Opfer eine persönliche Nachricht, meist in englischer Sprache. Darin wird ein geschäftliches Angebot angekündigt, was jedoch sehr vertraulich zu behandeln ist. Die Kommunikation wird an dieser Stelle von XING auf die E-Mail-Kommunikation verlagert. Das Businessnetzwerk dient also nur zur Kontaktaufnahme. Die weitere Kommunikation findet wie bisher über eine Freemail-Adresse statt. Ein Umstand, der bei jedem Nutzer großes Misstrauen auslösen sollte.
In der Folge entsteht ein reger E-Mail-Verkehr. Darin wird dem ausgesuchten Opfer in typischer Salamitaktik scheibchenweise offeriert, dass vollkommen risikolos viele Millionen Dollar zu verteilen sind. Am Ende läuft es immer darauf hinaus, dass Sie in Vorkasse gehen müssen. Schließlich sind im Vorfeld des großen Erbes Gebühren und Kosten für Urkunden, Steuern, Bescheide oder Gutachten zu bezahlen.
Lassen Sie sich auf derartige Geschäfte nicht ein. Es gibt weder eine verstorbene Person mit Ihrem Nachnamen noch den angeblichen Manager oder Rechtsanwalt, der Ihnen das Erbe zukommen lassen möchte.
Wer empfehlen Ihnen, auf derartige Kontaktversuche in sozialen Netzwerken nicht zu reagieren und den bestehenden Kontakt abzubrechen. Außerdem sollten Sie die Person melden, da es sich in der Regel um eine gefälschte Identität handelt. Erst dann bekommt XING Kenntnis von dem gefälschten Profil und kann dieses entfernen.
Denkbar ist, dass neben XING auch andere soziale Netzwerke wie LinkedIn, Facebook oder Stayfriends für die Kontaktaufnahme mit potenziellen Opfern genutzt werden.
